School Nurses’ Professional Practice to Educate Parents about HPV Vaccination

Abstract

Purpose. Identify factors associated with school nurses’ professional practice to provide parents with (1) Information about HPV vaccination providers, and (2) resources about HPV vaccination. Methods. Data were collected from the Ohio Association of School Nurses conference attendees. Results. School nurses’ who served 9th – 12th grade and who perceived themselves as an opinion leader were more likely to provide HPV education resources. School nurses’ who served prekindergarten through 5th graders were more likely to provide parents with HPV vaccine resources. Conclusion. The current study provides insight into key factors associated with school nurses providing vaccine education and resources to parents.
